Subject: CHARDESC: WARP Date: Sat, 20 Jun 1998 05:43:22 EDT From: Blackflak@aol.com For those of you who don't already know, Warp is a dimensional analog of myself, Douglass Barre, from a world where he got rudely yanked across dimensions at the age of thirteen, giving him the ability to open portals (warps, hence the name) between two points in space or between two separate dimensions. Because of spending so much time in Ataniel, Warp is constantly two years older than the Doug you know. Warp has been a superhero for over half his life, and is one of the two or three most experienced heroes in the world. He is an experienced fighter, and tremendously creative with his powers, which he's had years to ponder the ramifications and applications of. A favorite MO is to open a portal to a dimension of some ambient matter/energy and use the natural pressure to "shoot" it. As mentioned before, he spent some years as a fantasy hero on Ataniel, so also has many sword- n-sorcery genre skills. Warp is almost always composed when dealing with superhero business. He is rather less so in the realm of "private life". Warp's legal name is Warp, which should tell you a bit about his identity outside his superheroing. He doesn't really remember a life when he wasn't a hero, so secret identities and private lives are, while not unfamiliar, not something he has much experience with. He is a capable and practised leader, particularly excellent in suggesting new ways for the use of his teammates' powers. Warp's relations with teammates are cordial but somewhat aloof in terms of relating to them on a personal level. He is particularly close to Kyria (as Kyria), and has a long held distaste for Manstalker. He particularly likes his current position as "mentor" to younger/newer heroes, though his young age (he's about to turn thirty) occasionally makes him seem like a know-it-all. When in doubt, write him like he were me. (He is not, actually, the Douglass Barre of Earth-V, however... that dubious honor goes to the small local and retired hero Blackflak. Warp is from a destroyed dimension.) Any other questions about Warp or his long and varied history, write me. If you want to refer to a character who's been around in the world for some time, chances are Warp would know of or have had contact with him or her, so feel free to write it in. A full origin of Warp is planned for a series of posts, so keep an eye open for those. Doug
